We believe all women deserve to own perfectly fitting, sustainable bras.
That’s why we created the world’s most inclusive range of bras from responsibly sourced deadstock fabric, and operate a zero-waste policy for offcut materials.
How are our bras inclusive?
We offer one of the world’s widest range of sustainable bra sizes, from 26A-36GG...and more coming soon.
How are they responsibly sourced?
Our lingerie consists of gold rings, fabric, hook and eye closures, strapping and elastic, and we source each one responsibly. We use reclaimed fabric to reduce material waste, and all our elastics, garment labels, and packaging is made by local, eco-friendly suppliers.
How is our fabric zero-waste?
On average, 10% of fabric in the fashion industry ends up wasted on the cutting room floor, with even more faulty items being thrown straight in the bin.
We save and shred our cuttings so that it can be used recycled, as well as giving gentle worn, slightly imperfect items a second chance at love as part of our Factory Seconds range.
What is deadstock fabric?
Did you know that large brands and factories send millions of tonnes of unused textiles to landfill every year?
We believe the most sustainable fabric choice is using material that already exists. That’s why we work with a UK supplier who sends us perfect, unused surplus luxury lingerie fabrics that would have otherwise gone to landfill. We’re really proud that all our garments are made from beautiful, quality fabrics that reduce textile waste so are kind to the environment.
Every Lara item is made in our
all-female factory in London.
It helps to have boobs when designing bras, yes, but we also dreamt of reinvigorating the female manufacturing industry in the UK when we founded Lara. We’re now working to make this a reality, starting with a small team of all-female seamstresses.
When we started Lara Intimates we couldn’t find a responsible lingerie factory in England that could help us make high quality but affordable products. So we started our own factory in London, where every Lara garment is created in-house. This gives us total control of every step of the manufacturing process, from design to delivery – including making sure we look after our staff, operating a great working environment.
“At Lara, we subscribe to the triple bottom line framework - accounting for profit, people and the planet.”
How do we make better quality bras?
We have rejected conventional manufacturing in favour of a more agile process where our design team, factory and shop all exist in one bright airy room. This means that when feedback comes in from you about how to make a bra better, we can set about making this change instantly.
What does this mean for me?
It means you get even better fitting, high quality bras for the fairest price imaginable. If you do have any feedback on existing bras, we’d love to hear from you on firstname.lastname@example.org or via Instagram @laraintimates.
How do we price fairly?
Because we don’t stock-pile materials or have a conventional shop we can offer accessible prices to our customers for high quality products.
We are constantly thinking of ways to work more efficiently (for example we recently bought amazing new sewing machines) and when we do we reward our customers directly by reflecting this in our pricing.
